Dusting Off Diamonds
Stop creating new marketing content every time you have an idea. Find the gems and find new ways to get those in front of the right people
This week’s issue is sponsored by After Design. Designers, and most creators, are at risk of having their careers threatened by AI. Each week, my new newsletter goes over the latest in AI that will impact creatives. Forewarned is forearmed.
Welcome to the 50th issue of my newsletter (not counting reprint issues)!
Speaking of reprints …
You’ve spent all this time and energy on creating content. Why let that languish on some random page in your resource library?
You’re not alone in doing this. Too many of us are so fixated on the next project that we end up with the “launch and leave” mentality. My advice, look through your analytics and find content that could be republished. Or adapt that content for new audiences.
There are diamonds out there. You just have to dust them off.
With that in mind, here are some recent issues that you may have missed.
These are great tips from two people who know how to build an audience. Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose break down ten tips to grow your audience and expand your reach.
Most marketing teams want to do as much as possible for the widest audience. In this issue, tab32’s Chief Strategy Officer, Melissa LuVisi, discusses how to capture the attention of a very small, but very valuable, audience. This was also the first time I tried Bob Ross for Graphic Design where I live streamed my design process.
Want to learn how to build … and sustain … a personal brand? Lydia Pierre breaks down why you need to have a personal brand, and how to go about building that out.
The entire foundation of discoverability on YouTube is changing. YouTube expert Sean Cannell digs into how it’s changing and what you should do to prepare for future success.
I’ve been really focused on AI lately. It’s not an understatement to say it’s changing everything. SEO innovator Jordan Koene had a spirited discussion (they actually disagreed on some things) where they broke down fact and fiction on the future of AI and search.
Another article on growing an audience, but this one focuses on how to easily use social media to build. Annie Schiffman breaks down these three simple steps you should take each time you’re on social media. I know I’ve had some success following these steps.
Microsoft’s VP of Design and Artificial Intelligence, John Maeda, reminds people that AI is just a tool. It’s your job to tell the AI what to do. It will help you, but it doesn’t mean you work for the AI.
The schedule for this newsletter may be a little sporadic for a bit. I recently started a new job. I’ve also been working on my new newsletter, After Design. If you’re curious about how AI is going to alter and disrupt creative careers, I recommend checking it out.
Thanks for skimming!
